Newcastle Medical Photography
We were presented with a brief within class from a woman name Tracy Guy from the R.V.I looking for the rebranding of her medical photography company, so i came up with a few ideas (left) the main idea was based around trying too capture a likeness of the camera lens but at the same time a likeness of a cell with its porous membrane which i thought the second and third logo's on the top row did well so i continued too develop those two.
I continued the broken stroke circles with rounded ends to create a smooth and caring look however i did try the stroke with squared edges which didn't look as good.
Although one problem i found was that the colors looked like a pregnancy clinic in m y opinion (light pink and blue). However i did find figure out which way i liked the text to be formed and aligned (aligned to the left with the image to the right hand side as a separate image).
As well as layout i figured out i wanted the photography too be the main focus of the logo so i used a bolder font, however i didn't want it too take away from the Newcastle medical so i used a thinner type face but a darker shade too even the focus. I used a combination of regular and bold font within the Helvetica typeface.
So once i had decided on a final look i thought that a logo needed to work well in black and white as well so i tested my logo in grayscale, which looked pretty good.
So after creating the stationary equipment i decided i need to move away from the lens idea which appeared to be everybody else's focus, then i remembered messing around with the Macro option on my old camera, so i thought i would experiment with Macro symbol. The problem i had with this was the weighting of the image too the typography so eventually i thought that the type should be the main focus and scaled the plant/ flower down, as for the color i used a dark green instead of the light blue, maybe to represent the flower, but looking back it does look like the hospital cafeteria colors or logos. However i used the logo in a stationary set then sent it too them, I'm waiting now too see which logo out of the class they use.
