Reluctant Hero - Week 6

This week we have been mainly researching for a brief from Barbour Jackets, the brief is to produce so illustrations/ emblems for a range of polo tops, too rival those of competitors such as Ralph Lauren and Joules. We started by researching into equestrianism i.e. which breeds of horses are used, what protection/ equipment do they use, different sports within equestrianism, as well as equestrianism, me and Michael were told to research into Heraldic imagery and crests i.e. coat of arms, family crests etc.
After we had produced mood boards and gathered enough images/ideas/elements then we began to start tracing up elements and combining those elements to produce coat of arms that could be used on polos.

Reluctant Hero - Week 5

This week we have continued with research and odd element creating for Lee T shirt illustrations, we have also continued to research and experiment with type to produce a japanese look for Super dry and Kneissl.
Two clients have came in this week, one for both Marc and Lee, for Lee a local coffee shop owner in Jesmond was looking for us to produce some branding with the company name 1901 and the client for Marc was a school teacher looking for a logo done for a school sporting setup.
Me and Michael were set off on researching into the explorer theme for 1901, firstly we were asked to pick up little and old elements and maps, then we were asked to start to trace them in illustrator.

Reluctant Hero - Week 4

Lee has received a new brief from the company Superdry who are currently collaborating with famous ski and snowboarding brand Kneissl Skis who at their peak in the late 60's and 70's were the accessories of people the likes of The Beatles. Lee had the idea of combining the Japanese style of Superdry with the minimal design of the red star logo of Kneissl, he set me and Michael off to research on Japanese letter forms which we could use to produce the Superdry logo.

Reluctant Hero - Week 3

As well as the Hilfiger briefs we have been working, Lee has recently been asked to customise a toy figure for Nooka watches so me and Michael have been tasked with looking at colour ways, other peoples customisations.
Lee had the idea of creating the illusion that the figure was sinking in ink, so he filled the figure he was given with glue and then cut the figure's bottom half at an angle and then drilled a hole through the hand to hold a little sign and then glued the figure to a puddle shaped piece of plastic, i was then tasked with going to Benton on the metro to pick up a sicker to put on the sign saying "That's all folks".
Another thing i've found myself doing which i didn't expect which is going to the post office to post prints/T shirts to customers for Mark, Lee and the owner Peter Manning.
